WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. — A 18-year-old Walnut Ridge man was killed and another person was injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday night.
Landon Ellis, 18, was a passenger in a 2017 Chevrolet car involved in the crash, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary fatal crash report.
The crash happened at about 8:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at the intersection of U.S. 67 and U.S. 67B.
The car was traveling north on U.S. 67B and entering U.S. 67 when it pulled into the path of a southbound 2014 Freightliner, according to the report. The Freightliner struck the Sonic on the driver’s side.
Both vehicles skidded approximately 310 feet south before coming to rest on the northbound shoulder of U.S. 67.
Ellis died in the crash. The driver of the car, 22-year-old Carlos Sifuentes of Walnut Ridge, was injured and taken to Regional One Health in Memphis.
The weather was clear and the road was dry when the crash occurred.
Sgt. Eric Wolf of the Walnut Ridge Police Department investigated the crash.
NOTE: Arkansas State Police reported the age of the driver to be 19. However, family contacted us to say he was 18.
