JONESBORO, Ark. – A Jonesboro resident started the new year with an unsettling incident after a bullet, fired by an unknown suspect, penetrated his home. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Police were dispatched at 4:50 PM on January 2 to the 4100-block of Bobcat Meadow Lane to take the report. The victim had only later become aware of what happened when his child brought him a bullet.
At 12:00 AM on January 1, the 31-year-old victim told police he had been playing video games on his laptop without any TVs in the house on, leaving the home silent. His wife went to lay down with their child and about five minutes later, the report says the man heard a louse noise that sounded like something hit the house. He assumed at the time something had fallen in the garage, since the noise came from that direction.
It wasn’t until later that evening when his child was playing in the upstairs playroom that the parents became aware of what the noise was. The child brought the father a spent .45 bullet. The father went upstairs and found a hole in the east side of the house. Drywall was pushed out, indicating something had come through the wall from the outside. The hole was the same size as the bullet found by the child. That’s when police were called.
The shot came from the east side of the house and was traveling westbound, police reported. The bullet was logged into evidence and photos were taken of the scene by responding officers.
The report also said the victim did not know of anyone who would have intentionally shot a round into the home.
The case is listed as inactive pending new leads or evidence. However, the suspect could face felony charges for the incident.
