JONESBORO, Ark. – A police report alleges that an elderly woman was the victim of a theft of over $80,000.
It was reported on September 26, but the dates of the alleged theft are listed between February 17, 2023, and September 19, 2023. The police report says that an 86-year-old Jonesboro woman had $80,140.31 stolen from her account.
The police report states that the woman is the mother of the suspect.
The money was allegedly taken through a stolen card or account number, the report says.
The incident is under investigation for possible charges of felony theft in excess of $25,000 and fraudulent use of a credit card/bank account/etc. The charge is a Class B felony.
A Class B felony theft offense under Arkansas law carries a sentence of five to 20 years’ incarceration, as well as a fine of no more than $15,000.
