Jonesboro Authorities Bust Suspect With Stolen Vehicle After Chase

JONESBORO, Ark. — A late-night patrol in a high-crime area led Jonesboro authorities to arrest a man after a short chase while recovering a vehicle stolen out of Trumann.

Around 1:40 a.m. on September 2, Officer Nathan Ivy noticed an open truck door in a parking lot in the area Cedar Heights (2009 Cedar Heights Drive). Upon investigation, Ivy observed a white male exiting the vehicle and walking away in an evasive manner. The officer reported smelling marijuana on the man and ordered him to stop, but the individual fled. A taser was deployed, causing the man to fall and comply.

Further investigation revealed that the Chevy Avalanche the suspect was seen rummaging through had been stolen from Trumann. The man was also found to have an active Board of Parole warrant and an active felony warrant from Harrisburg.

A search uncovered a box containing a pipe for ingesting meth, digital scales with meth residue, and other items. Various pieces of jewelry and coins were also found in the vehicle.

Emmanuel D. Dunning, 30, of Trumann, faces multiple charges, including felony counts of theft by receiving greater than $1,000, possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with misdemeanor possession, misdemeanor fleeing, and was held on the existing warrants.
