West Memphis police identify driver after fatal wreck

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. – Authorities in Crittenden County were seeking to identify the driver of a truck in relation to a fatal wreck from February on Monday. An update Tuesday said they had identified the driver.

On February 15, the West Memphis Police Department was dispatched to the area of South Avalon and Birch regarding an accident with injuries, a social media post said. Police were told the vehicle in the accident was a motorcycle that had flipped multiple times and the driver of the motorcycle was unresponsive.

Officers made contact with witnesses on the scene, who said a dark-colored pickup pulled out in front of the driver of the motorcycle and caused the driver to swerve into the northbound lane to traffic and strike the curb on the east side of the northbound lanes. The driver was transported to Regional One Trauma Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

During the investigation video footage of the accident was provided from a residence near the intersection of the accident. In the footage, a dark-colored Chevy extended cab truck starts to pull out off of Birch and stop quickly, and the motorcycle swerves into the northbound lanes.
