
JONESBORO, Ark. – Authorities with fire and police departments were working to evacuate an area of Jonesboro after a gas line ruptured from being struck by a car Monday.
Jonesboro 911 Dispatch sent out the alert of the need to evacuate the area of 4000 to 5000 block of E Highland due to gas main break per Jonesboro Fire Department.
The alert said the Jonesboro Fire Department and Jonesboro Police Department are both on scene.
JPD posted an update to social media adding more, saying it began with a vehicle accident in the 4800 block of East Highland. A vehicle struck a gas main and light pole. This occurred in Hytrol Conveyor, JPD said.
One person was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Police asked the public to avoid the area as personnal work to restore these services.
Please stay away from the area.

Shortly before 1 AM Tuesday, authorities sent out this update: The area around 4816 E Highland has been reopened. The gas leak has been repaired.
