Two armed robberies from Wednesday night being investigated in Jonesboro

Jonesboro Police Department Detectives are investigating two armed robberies that happened last night, police said in a press release posted to Facebook.

Around 11 PM Wednesday, officers responded to Casey’s General Store on Caraway Road for an aggravated robbery that had just occurred. When officers arrived, the clerk stated that the suspect entered the store, displayed a firearm, and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A short time later, officers were dispatched to the Kum-N-Go in the 3100 block of Stadium BLVD for another aggravated robbery. The suspect entered the store with a firearm and proceeded to take packs of cigars and an undisclosed amount of cash.

A K9 officer on scene located a person of interest running behind the Kum N-Go located in the 2600 block of Red Wolf. As the officer attempted to make contact, the suspect got into a vehicle and proceeded to leave the scene. Officers located the suspect near the intersection of Kitchen and Matthews. He was apprehended after he neglected to negotiate the curve and struck a tree.

He was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center where he is awaiting his probable cause hearing.
