Victim attacked during aggravated home burglary; Car stolen with dog inside; Other JPD reports from Wednesday and Thursday

The following are summaries of police reports released on Wednesday, January 6 and Thursday, January 7 by the Jonesboro Police Department. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in court. 

Suspects were alleged to have unlawfully entered a home and after striking a victim, stealing his vehicle. It happened between 10 PM on 1/4 and 8 AM 1/5 (Tuesday) at the 700-block of Southwest Drive. One female, thought to work with the victim, and three male suspects are listed in the report. The stolen vehicle was a white 2013 Chrysler 300.

A residential burglary reported on Tuesday happened between 12/23 and 1/5 at the 900-block of Warner.

A report says between 11 AM and 12:55 PM on 1/5, near the intersection of Ellen Ave and Church, a 32-year-old man was dragged into a house by three suspects and beaten with a metal pipe. The man had a fractured skull and possible other injuries. The man was apparently robbed of money and a phone during the incident.

A man who has had previous run-ins with the law was arrested again this week after a traffic stop in Jonesboro. Quenterius Finch, 25, was found to be in contempt of court and arrested on Tuesday. He has previously been arrested in connection to a Georgia murder, in addition to having been shot in a murder that happened on Galaxy Street at the beginning of 2019.

A vehicle was stolen with a man’s dog still in it Tuesday night at the 4800-block of E. Highland Drive. Around 9 PM, a white 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue was stolen with a black and brown Rottweiler inside.

More catalytic converter thefts were reported this week, having happened sometime between December and now at the 400-block of W. Parker Road.

A report stated that a man was found dead and a woman arrested on Wednesday with numerous drugs being found at the scene. Between 3 PM and 4 PM at the 2000-block of Maurice Street, a 29-year-old male was found with blood running out of his mouth. The report said it was an unattended death. Morgan P. Shuburte, 25, of Trumann, was arrested for felony possession of drugs (meth or cocaine). Several pills including Xanax, along with cocaine, were found at the scene.

A 24-year-old man shot himself in the foot between 6 PM and 7 PM Wednesday, 1/6, at the 10000-block of Willow Creek Lane in Jonesboro.

A residential burglary was reported after 1 AM on Thursday at the 4700-block of Samantha Avenue with a suspect kicking in a front door. The victim said she saw a white male wearing a hoodie before he fled.

Two suspects were arrested with felony drugs early Thursday at a hotel on the 2900-block of Kazi Street in Jonesboro. Andrew Lee Bishop, 32, and Shandell Gladis Talton, 21, were arrested in a hotel room where a homemade glass meth bomb and used syringes were found. Meth was also found at the scene.

Vehicle break-ins

  • A vehicle break-in happened between 1/1 and 1/5 at the 400-block of Wiregrass Way where a gun was stolen from a vehicle.
  • A suspect busted a window on a Uhaul truck and stole items between midnight and 8 AM on 1/5 at the 100-block of Melrose.
  • Between 10 PM and 3 AM at the 900-block of Freeman, a victim’s gun and credit card were stolen from her vehicle
