One killed, four injured after chase ends in crash

One person died and four people suffered injuries after a chase that ended with a wreck into a home in Jonesboro.

JPD confirmed one fatality had occurred in their most recent update to social media around 10 PM Friday. Four people suffered injuries on the scene and were transported to area hospitals.

The accident happened around 8:15 PM Friday, according to Arkansas State Police. Brookland police pursued a fleeing vehicle into Jonesboro, with the chase coming to a tragic end at the 3800-block of Harrisburg Road.

A power pole was knocked down and crews were on location late to restore any loss of power.

In their fatal crash summary, state police reported Julianna Valle, 21, of Farmington, as the person who was killed in the accident. She was listed as a passenger in the 2020 Toyota Highlander driven by Devonte Stanback, 28, of Wynne. Stanback was injured in the crash. Three other passengers were in the vehicle: Darian Nauden, 24, of Conway, was injured. Two minors, ages unknown, were also reportedly injured.

The accident happened when the vehicle left the east side of the road and went up a ditch embankment. The vehicle struck a utility pole and brick fence. The vehicle went airborne, colliding with an apartment complex. The vehicle came to a rest in the yard after the violent accident.

A light mist was present at the time, leaving roads wet.
