
Main St. Bridge Was Shut Down While Officers Recovered Evidence
JONESBORO, Ark. – A suspect tried getting way from police early Friday morning during a traffic stop but he didn’t get far before being arrested.
Early Friday morning at about 3:45 AM, officers with the Jonesboro Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at Johnson Avenue and Main Street, a release said. The suspect fled on foot from the location but officers managed to catch up to him and place him into custody.
However, police ended up shutting down the Main Street Bridge for a short time the suspect allegedly threw evidence in the road and over the edge of the bridge. Officers were finding stuff all over the road, a source at JPD said.
Once apprehended, the suspect was found to have a felony warrant and officers recovered several baggies of cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, and paraphernalia from his person and his vehicle.
The suspect will be charged with possession of meth or cocaine, possession of sch I or II not meth or cocaine, possession of sch VI, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, fleeting, parole violation, use of a communication device, and an out of town warrant.
The suspect’s name will be released after his probable cause hearing.
