Sheriff Kevin Bell says business will continue as usual with Triple R owner Jeremy Rowland and the company’s other employees.
POCAHONTAS, Ark. — The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office will no longer conduct bail bond business with Mel Poisso, but Sheriff Kevin Bell says the decision does not apply to Triple R Bail Bonds or its owner, Jeremy Rowland.
Bell issued a public notice dated Wednesday, Sept. 2, making the decision effective immediately.
The notice said the sheriff’s office would no longer conduct business with Triple R Bail Bonds, “in particular Mel Poisso,” in matters involving bail bonds. It later stated that continuing the business relationship with Triple R was not in the best interest of the sheriff’s office or the public.
Bell clarified Thursday that the action applies only to Poisso.
“It’s not with Jeremy or his company, Triple R. It’s with one person,” Bell told NEA Report in a text message. “I will continue business as usual with Jeremy and his other employees.”
Triple R’s website identifies Rowland as the company’s owner and lists Poisso among its bail agents.
When asked why he stopped working with Poisso, Bell declined to provide additional details, citing the possibility of litigation.
“Apparently they are threatening to sue me now, so I don’t want to comment,” Bell wrote.
Bell did not identify who he meant by “they” or provide additional information about the claimed threat. He said he would not comment further.
The public notice attributed the decision to ongoing concerns involving service, communication, reliability and competency in dealings with the sheriff’s office. It did not identify a specific incident, provide examples supporting those concerns or allege criminal conduct.
The sheriff’s office said the decision does not prevent anyone from seeking legal counsel or pursuing other lawful options involving bail or bonding services.
