Monday is the last day to early vote in sales tax election

JONESBORO, Ark. – You’ve got one day left if you plan on early voting in the Jonesboro sales tax election and it’s Monday, September 9.

Polls will be open from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday at the Jonesboro Election Annex and Lake City Courthouse (for Jonesboro residents only).

Election day is this Tuesday, September 10.

As of Friday, 4,880 early voted in the special election. 1,265 cast early ballots on Friday alone – more than the first day of early voting, when 1,235 voted, according to Craighead County Clerk Kade Holliday.

In other words, turnout seems to be high and getting even higher.

“It is a large turn out for a special election which is great to see,” Holliday said. “All things are moving smoothly and efficiently.”

Team Jonesboro Chairman Scott McDaniel said a ton of energy was being felt.

“Everything we see on impressions and website is mind boggling,” McDaniel said. “All of this speaks to voter interest and voter energy. It’s clear we tapped into something and regardless of the outcome, I’m proud that the community is taking such a huge interest in answering the fundamental question we’ve been asking since day one, ‘What type of community do you want to live in?”

We will all find out Tuesday night.
