Victim assaulted during Saturday robbery

JONESBORO, Ark. – A bold criminal faces felony charges for assaulting a resident during a burglary, turning the incident into aggravated robbery.

Around 5:30 p.m., JPD Officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 200 block of E. Cherry Street in reference to a burglary in progress. The resident walked in on a suspect and was ordered to “hand over the money.”

The male resident stated that he did not have any money and was hit on the head with the suspect’s hand gun, busting his scalp open.

The victim and a female companion were ordered to get on the floor as the suspect fled the apartment.

Items were taken out of a vehicle parked outside of the residence that belonged to the victims.

The suspect is described as a black male, his face appeared to be covered.

The male victim was taken to a local hospital and is currently receiving treatment for his wound.

This incident is currently under investigation.
