It began back in November, on the 23rd, when police took the first report. The victim’s wallet was stolen from her purse at a business on Browns Lane. Her husband called her with the question that sparked their suspicion something was wrong. He received an email saying someone had charged $427.82 at Walmart on Highland Drive at 11:57 AM. From there, her Bank of America card was also used for $600 and then used again for $620. Another card, from Focus Bank, was used at a Focus Bank ATM around the same time. That card was declined. At 1:37 PM, her Kohl’s card was used for $521.19, again at 1:53 PM for $708.78 and again at 2 PM for $263.55. This was all at Kohl’s at 2117 Fair Park Blvd.

With the theft amount well over $1,000, it constitutes a felony, just for the amount which was stolen. However, theft of property credit/debit cards is also a felony charge, as is fraudulent use of the card. The suspects are looking at three possible felony charges.

Tuesday, JPD requested help through Crimestoppers efforts. An email from Cpl. David McDaniel made the press aware.

“Det. Coleman is requesting assistance in identifying the two subjects that used a stolen debit card to make fraudulent purchases,” McDaniel wrote.
