Two suspects arrested from Wednesday’s armed burglary

JONESBORO, Ark. – Two suspects are in custody from a Wednesday armed burglary in Jonesboro.

Bryan Cruz, 18, and Enrique Pina, 20, were identified as suspects in a press release sent out by Cpl. David McDaniel of JPD.

On Wednesday, August 22, 2018 Officers with the Jonesboro Police Department were called, at approximately 8:30 am, by a third party that requested they check the welfare of an unknown male subject standing near the apartment complex located at 828 South Caraway RD.

Officers arrived on scene and contacted the male subject and learned that he had been the victim of a residential burglary. The victim informed officers that he was asleep when three subjects not known to him entered his apartment and woke him and his roommates up. The intruders were armed with firearms and one was holding a machete.

The intruders then tied the victims’ hands behind their backs and then demanded money from them.

The victims were hit with the firearm while the intruders demanded money form them. The victim’s suffered minor injury from being hit. The suspects then left the apartment after they were unsuccessful in their attempt to obtain money from the victims.

Officers contacted the other victims in the home and then called investigators to the scene. Detectives collected evidence and gathered statements from witnesses.

Through the assistance of the community, detectives have been able to identify suspects involved. Eighteen year old Bryan Cruz of Jonesboro and twenty year old Enrique Pina of Jonesboro have been arrested in connection to the residential burglary. Detectives are actively investigating the case in hopes of determining the identity of the third party involved.

A temporary bond will be requested for both subjects and they will go before a judge for a Probable Cause Hearing Monday, August 27, 2018.

In addition to news from the press release, Pina and Cruz are neither strangers to law enforcement, NEA Report has learned. Pina is currently held in Craighead County Detention Center on a failure to comply to court order charge, in addition to the charge for burglary of a residence while armed with a deadly weapon.

Cruz is also being held on a failure to appear felony, in addition to a possession of felony drug paraphernalia charge.
