JONESBORO, Ark. – The Jonesboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has a new name and logo.

After working with community partners to identify a name and logo that would communicate the identity and function of the MPO, the Policy Committee formally adopted the name Northeast Arkansas Regional Transportation Planning Commission (N.A.R.T.P.C.) and corresponding logo in November, 2017. Although the name and logo are changing, the focus and function of the MPO remains constant: to develop plans and partnerships that result in a safe, efficient, and multimodal transportation system.

Commissioned in 2003, the MPO is a regional transportation planning body composed of locally-elected officials and representatives from state and federal transportation agencies. The MPO area currently consists of the cities of Bay, Bono, Brookland, Jonesboro, and portions of Craighead County. The primary objective of the MPO is to develop transportation plans and projects required by federal law, and to foster collaboration among regional, statewide, and federal stakeholders.
