City of Jonesboro taking over recycling again

Blue bags also on the way out

JONESBORO, Ark. – After an effort by Abilities Unlimited to take over the duties of recycling in the City of Jonesboro, it is to become the city’s responsibility once again.

City Communication Director Bill Campbell told NEA Report on Monday.

“It’s a losing proposition for Abilities Unlimited and they want out,” Campbell.

Another change – blue bags. Both inefficient and unpopular, Campbell said, they will instead be replaced with 65-gallon carts. Residents must purchase the cart.

An early bird rate of $20 will be offered in January. If you wait until July to buy, they’re $50.

In July, the cart will replace the blue bags.
