Paragould police make arrest in hit and run

PARAGOULD, Ark. – An individual was arrested Tuesday by Paragould authorities for hitting and severely injuring Ronald Pruitt on Tuesday, September 19.

A release from Paragould Police Department said Tuesday afternoon that detectives arrested an individual regarding the hit and run accident on Tuesday, September 19th, in which Mr. Ronald Pruitt was severely injured.No other details will were released but further information will be forthcoming regarding this arrest, PPD said in the statement.

“The Paragould Police Department would like to thank everyone who supplied us with tips and information to help with this case,” The Facebook post concluded.

At approximately 5:07 p.m., on Sept. 19, officers responded to a call of a man lying in a ditch on N. 11th Ave near E. Garland St, another post by the department said. The original caller advised that the male subject was bleeding from the head. Police and EMS units responded and began tending to the injured man, later identified as Ronald Pruitt of Paragould.

As officers were helping tend to Mr. Pruitt, it was learned from persons standing near the scene that Pruitt was struck by a red vehicle. This information allegedly came from a female witness who was no longer on scene when police and EMS units arrived. This witness has since been located, and supplied officers with the description of an older model full sized van that was red in color. The van allegedly has no hubcaps on the wheels. The van was last seen traveling northbound on S. 11th Avenue, toward E. Court St.

On Sept 21, Pruitt was still hospitalized with serious injuries. Media has not been updated on his condition.
