Hopewell man arrested after fight with deputies

HOPEWELL, Ark. – Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office reported two deputies were treated at the hospital after a fight with a local man who is now in jail.

On September 10, 2017 around 12pm, Cleburne County deputies responded to Firehouse Road in Hopewell for a complaint of someone actively damaging property. When deputies arrived, they encountered a male who matched the suspect’s description. The suspect, later identified as Bobby Brown, 54, of Hopewell, attempted to flee the area and then engaged in a fight with deputies, a press release from the sheriff’s office said.

Brown was eventually taken into custody, and transported to the Cleburne County Jail.

Two deputies were transported by ambulance to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. One Sheriff’s Office car was also damaged in the altercation.

Brown is currently being held with no bond on charges including Terroristic Threatening, Assault 2nd, Resisting Arrest, Fleeing, and Battery 2nd.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
