Sleepwalking child ends up in wrong home; found by police

JONESBORO, Ark. – A man woke up Thursday to find police knocking at his door and a child, not his, randomly sleeping in his apartment.

The bizarre incident happened after a 12-year-old went for a walk while he was asleep, the JPD incident report says.

At 8:17 a.m. Thursday, August 10, Officer Chris Perry was dispatched to the 3700-block of Caraway Road to a set of apartments where a family was in a panic. A 20-year-old woke up to find his kid brother asleep on the couch in front of the television. By the time he got out of the shower, the 12-year-old was gone and the front door was open.

Still remaining were his shoes, shorts, and cell phone. Something was wrong – and he called police.

Perry began knocking on doors in search for the child. He got lucky. The first door he knocked on yielded the location.

A 24-year-old man, awaken by the officer, walked into the living room to find the youth asleep on his couch. He walked the juvenile out.

The child said he couldn't remember walking into another apartment. The strange report was concluded with the 24-year-old saying this wasn't the first time this had happened.
