NEWPORT, Ark. – A 17-year-old is being charged as an adult with a felony for a school shooting threat he is accused of.
Henry Boyce, Third Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney, announced today the 17 year old juvenile arrested in May for making threats to to commit a shooting at Newport Public School has been charged with Terroristic Threatening. Terroristic Threatening is a Class D Felony punishable by up to six years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. Boyce also charged the juvenile as an adult.
Boyce said, “This type of threat must be taken seriously. The message of this charging decision is that teenagers should not toy around with the subject of school shooting.”
