Juvenile charged as adult for Newport school shooting threat 

​NEWPORT, Ark. – A 17-year-old is being charged as an adult with a felony for a school shooting threat he is accused of.

Henry Boyce, Third Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney, announced today the 17 year old juvenile arrested in May for making threats to to commit a shooting at Newport Public School has been charged with Terroristic Threatening. Terroristic Threatening is a Class D Felony punishable by up to six years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. Boyce also charged the juvenile as an adult.

​Boyce said, “This type of threat must be taken seriously. The message of this charging decision is that teenagers should not toy around with the subject of school shooting.”
