$5,000 Bond Set for Trumann Woman Accused of Stealing Nearly $1 Million from Business

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Trumann woman is accused of stealing close to $1 million from a Jonesboro business.

The probable cause affidavit says that on May 12, 2025, the owner of Valley View Agri contacted the Craighead County Sheriff’s Department about a large amount of money allegedly stolen from his business by a former employee. Documentation was supplied showing Jennifer Latham had stolen close to one million dollars from the business.

The owner told investigators that when the business found the thefts, they set up a promissory note with Latham for her to pay back $413,451.86. She made $1,000 weekly payments.

However, the business later learned that Latham had used company credit cards both for personal use and to stock a business that she operates – My Affordable Abode. The current amount charged to the credit cards was $642,194.38.

“Documentation indicates that Ms. Latham is selling and has sold items from her business, My Affordable Abode, that were purchased with Valley View Agri credit cards,” Detective David Bailey wrote in the affidavit. ” Also, Ms. Latham appears to have paid utilities at the My Affordable Abode business utilizing Valley View Agri credit cards before her being terminated from employment with Valley View Agri.”

Jennifer Renee Latham, 52, of Trumann, was arrested Wednesday on charges of theft of over $25,000 and fraudulent use of a credit/debit card over $25,000, both Class B felonies, and criminal use of property, a Class C felony. Jail records show she was booked and released in less than 90 minutes.

Latham appeared before Judge Barbara Halsey for her bond hearing on Wednesday, May 28. Prosecutors agreed to bail at $5,000 cash or surety, which the judge granted. Her next court appearance is July 31.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
