NEWPORT, Ark. – Henry Boyce, Third Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney, announced today Benjamin Collier, 20, of Newport has been charged with First Degree Murder.
The charges stem from the death of a 10 month-old infant who was found dead in an apartment in Newport on September 10, 2017. Evidence developed in the case put Collier at the scene and implicated him as being responsible for brain injury to the infant causing her death.
Boyce said, “We looked at the evidence in this case very carefully and I feel we have ruled out the possibility of accidental death.”
