
MELBOURNE, Ark. – An alleged sexual assault of a juvenile teen was reported on Thursday in Izard County.
The Izard County Sheriff’s Department received a call at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 25, in reference to two young girls running down the Day Road wearing tee shirts and no pants, according to Chief Deputy Earnie Blackley in a Facebook post to the sheriff’s page.
Deputy Mike Foster responded to the call and found the girls in a field off of the Day Road. It was determined that one of the girls was fifteen years old. She alleged that she had been sexually assaulted.
The girls were transported to White River Medical Center in Highland to get checked out.
A 34-year-old male suspect of Horseshoe Bend was taken into custody without incident and placed on a investigative hold pending formal charges. His name is not being released by authorities until the investigation concludes.
