Blytheville man convicted of 2015 rape in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – A man will spend a decade in prison on felony charges including rape.

Duan Jamal Harris, 28, of Blytheville, was convicted and sentenced Friday, May 26, by a Craighead County jury for crimes taking place on August 14, 2015, District Prosecutor Scott Ellington told NEA Report.

Harris was convicted of rape, aggravated assault and interfering with an emergency communication device following a three day jury trial in Craighead County, Ellington said.

Harris was sentenced to the jury’s recommendation – 10 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction for the rape charge. He also was sentenced to three years for the aggravated assault charge, the prosecutor added.

Harris is facing pending felony charges in Blytheville, too, according to Ellington.
