Jonesboro police arrest murder suspect from Saturday shooting

JONESBORO, Ark. – The police in Jonesboro worked swiftly over the weekend to bring an accuse killer to justice.

On Sunday, Jonesboro police arrested a suspect on a charge of capital murder in connection with Saturday morning’s slaying of a Jonesboro man.

Shortly before 6:30 Sunday afternoon, officers arrested Kentrall Williams, 30, at 1813 Cedar Heights Drive on a bench warrant charging him with capital murder. Williams is accused of Saturday morning’s shooting death of Kerry Kindred Jr., 26, of Jonesboro.

When officers arrived shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday at a location in the 700 block of Marshall Street they found that Kerry Lee Kindred Jr., 26, had been struck by gunfire. Officers were told that Kindred had been shot while he was sitting in a vehicle outside a residence at that location. Kindred was taken to a local hospital where he subsequently died.

Through an investigation led by Detectives Mike Branscum and Keri Varner, police developed Williams as a suspect in the slaying. Officers obtained a bench warrant for Williams’ arrest on Sunday. The police department’s Tactical Team entered the residence at 1813 Cedar Heights Drive and took Wiliams into custody without incident.

Williams is being held in the Craighead County Jail pending a probable cause hearing on Monday.
