CORNING, Ark. — Two Poplar Bluff, Missouri, residents were arrested Saturday after a traffic stop near 10 Box in Corning led to the discovery of suspected marijuana and methamphetamine, according to Clay County Sheriff Ronnie Cole.
Isaiah Rkayl Johnson, 29, and Alexandria Danielle Radcliff, 19, were taken to the Clay County Detention Center. Both face allegations of possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance weighing less than 2 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance weighing less than 4 ounces.
A deputy encountered a southbound vehicle on U.S. 67 with an expired Missouri license plate at about 4:53 p.m. Oct. 3, Cole said. The deputy turned around and stopped the vehicle near 10 Box.
The driver told the deputy he did not have his driver’s license and that the vehicle was not insured, according to the sheriff’s account. Four people were in the vehicle, and the deputy requested assistance from the Corning Police Department.
After the deputy reported smelling marijuana, a rear driver’s-side passenger handed him a bag containing a green leafy substance, Cole said.
When a Corning officer arrived, the occupants were removed from the vehicle for a search. During pat-downs, the front passenger told officers there was a bag of marijuana behind the center console, according to the release.
During the vehicle search, officers found a lipstick container in the middle of the back seat. It contained a white crystal substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, Cole said. Neither back-seat passenger claimed the container.
Johnson and Radcliff were arrested and booked on the three drug-related allegations. The other two occupants were cited and released with a November court date in Corning. The release did not specify the citations issued to them.
All charges are allegations. Those accused are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
