Suspected drug dealer busted in Izard County

CALICO ROCK, Ark. – Authorities in Izard County are staying busy in February with more drug arrests reported to the media on Monday, Feb. 27.

On February 19, Deputy Dennis Tiernan with the Izard County Sheriff’s Department made a traffic stop at the Conoco station in Calico Rock. Frankie Lee Cox, 22 was arrested for no driver’s license.

Tiernan inventoried the vehicle and found contraband in vehicle, according to a news release.

Cox was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine a class D felony, Possession of Marijuana, a class A misdemeanor, Possession with the purpose to use drug paraphernalia to ingest methamphetamine, a class D felony, and possession with the purpose to use drug paraphernalia to prepare, test, analyze, pack, repack, store, contain, or conceal methamphetamine, a class B felony.

Cox is incarcerated in the Izard County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond. Cox also has hold from Arkansas Probation and Parole.


Then, on February 23, Nathaniel Speak, 33, was arrested at a residence on State Hwy 5 in Calico Rock.

Speak was charged a litany of crimes:

  • Absconding
  • Possession with the purpose to deliver methamphetamine, a class C felony
  • Possession with the purpose to deliver oxycodone, a class C felony
  • Possession with the purpose to deliver clonazepam a class D felony
  • Possession with the purpose to deliver marijuana, a class D felony
  • Manufacture of a controlled substance, (marijuana) a class A misdemeanor
  • Possession with the purpose to use drug paraphernalia to prepare, test, analyze, pack, repack, store, contain, or conceal methamphetamine, a class B felony
  • Possession with the purpose to use drug paraphernalia to plant, propagate, cultivate, grow, harvest, manufacture, compound, convert, produce, process, prepare, test, analyze, pack, repack, store, contain, or conceal a controlled substance not methamphetamine/cocaine, a class D felony
  • Felon in possession of a firearm.

Speak is being held in the Izard County Detention Center without bond.


On February 23, Ezra Beasley, 38 was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended or revoked license. Beasley was placed in the Izard County Detention Center. Beasley posted bond in the amount of $365 and given an April 4, court date.

On February 23, Phil Cargal, 38, was arrested for driving while license suspended or revoked. Cargal was transported to the Izard County Detention Center. Cargal posted bond in the amount of $365 and given a March 23, court date in Melbourne District Court.

On February 23, Joseph Lee, 33, was arrested and charged with driving on suspended or revoked license.Lee was transported to the Izard County Detention Center and given a March 23 court date in Melbourne District Court.
