JONESBORO, Ark. – Shoplifters continue to try their luck at The Mall at Turtle Creek – and continue to fail.

The latest incident reported to Jonesboro Police Department happened at 3:46 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Officer Owen Smith was dispatched to the mall, 3000 East Highland Drive, to Dillard’s to speak with loss prevention.

The officer was told by an employee the 14-year-old boy entered a dressing room with several clothing items but exited with nothing. Staff checked the dressing room and found tags left in the room, sans clothing.

As the suspect was exiting the store, employees made contact with him and it was discovered he was wearing two pairs of pants, belonging to Dillard’s, under his own jeans.

The officer spoke with the suspect, who reportedly admitted to having the unpaid merchandise on. He was taken to a changing room to give the merchandise back to the store.

The Craighead County Juvenile Department was contacted and per instructions, the boy was placed into custody and taken to the Craighead County Juvenile Detention Center for theft of property, less than $1,000. The boy’s mother was contacted.
