New tornado siren goes up in Walnut Ridge

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – The former College City area just got a tornado siren to make life a little safer in severe weather.

The tornado siren was in the process of being installed Thursday, Feb. 23, after months of work by the Walnut Ridge City Council – who paid for half of the costs, while College City paid for the other half.

The arrangement was made before Jan. 1, 2017, when the two cities consolidated.

The siren will serve the industrial park area as well as Williams Baptist College.
