JONESBORO, Ark. – It’s an opportunity for those with warrants to handle them without the handcuffs.
Craighead County District Court’s amnesty program will begin this Friday, Jan. 20 at 9:30 a.m. This program will run for four consecutive Fridays, Jan. 20 and 27 and Feb. 3d and 10.
On these dates, court will be held from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. Defendants must be present to be eligible. Individuals who have outstanding warrants in the Craighead County District Court will be served those warrants and cited back to court without being arrested, said District Court Judges Thomas Fowler and David Boling.
Individuals who are behind on their payments plans to the court or behind on their public service work may come in to speak with the judge about their specific situations without fear of being arrested.
Wonderful idea. Too many poor folks get trapped in the system. Getting rid of JUSTICE NETWORK was a step in the right direction.
Also, KAIT should be STOPPED from putting “non-payment of fines” people (and such) on their Tues. night program. It’s a shame to highlight the unfortunates that are struggling.
