Man critically injured in ATV accident

CORNING, Ark. – A serious accident involving an all-terrain vehicle happened near Corning on Saturday.

At 10:49 p.m., Clay County 911 reported receiving notification of a 4-wheeler accident on Clay County Road 181 and 141, according to a Facebook post by the Clay County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies, Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Ambulance Service, Corning first responders, Arkansas State Police, and Corning Police Department responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, first responders located the operator of the ATV, Jay Tate, 25, of Jonesboro. Authorities said Tate was seriously injured in the accident. He was taken by AMMC ambulance to the Corning Ball Complex, where an Air-Evac medical helicopter then transported him to The Med in Memphis.

The department’s last report Monday was that Tate was in critical but stable condition.

The sheriff’s department is investigating the accident. The sheriff also expressed his gratitude to the assisting agencies in the incident.
