Walnut Ridge restaurant gets private club permit

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – Soon, you’ll have the option to have a beer with your pizza in Walnut Ridge.

At the July 20 Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board meeting in Little Rock, a private club permit was issued to Juan Carlos Aguilar for Main Street Pizza, 207 W. Main Street in Walnut Ridge.

Walnut Ridge Mayor Charles Snapp presented a letter of support for the permit. Three area pastors submitted letters of opposition: John Cook, Dr. Derek Collins of Gethsemane Baptist Church, and Jake Guenrich of First Baptist Church Walnut Ridge. An area resident, Thomas Dale Hughart, also submitted a letter of opposition.

However, the director saw fit to grant the permit conditionally. Those conditions include, “completion of remodeling, receipt of health department approval, installation of all kitchen facilities, lighted fire exit signs, a landline telephone, with reinspection by ABC Enforcement,” according to the board meeting notes.
