Public hearings on fair housing scheduled

Press Release – Bill Campbell, City of Jonesboro

The City of Jonesboro’s Grants and Community Development Department is conducting an analysis of impediments to fair housing. Community participation must occur in the development of the analysis, and the City is required to take into consideration the views and recommendations of the community.

The analysis is a new funding requirement for the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) 5-Year Consolidated Plan, and will, in large part, drive the development of the Consolidated Plan. Data and comments collected will be used in the development of a five-year Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing plan.

Two hearings will be held:

Monday July 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the E. Boone Watson Community Center, 1005 Logan Street; and

Monday, July 18 at 3 p.m. in the Municipal Building (1st Floor), 300 S. Church Street.

Once approved, the plan will be used in the CDGB 5-year Consolidated Plan as well as Jonesboro’s Annual Action Plan and other federal grants moving forward.
