Malfunction Causes False Alarm at Brookland Schools

BROOKLAND, Ark. – Authorities are investigating after a false alarm for an active shooter set off a panic Monday in Brookland, a release from the police department said.

At approximately 8:56 AM on May 20, 2024, the Brookland Police Department responded to an active shooter emergency at Brookland Middle School that was triggered by the districts RAVE Panic System.

Within seconds, officers arrived on scene and determined that the RAVE Panic System had malfunctioned. No threat was located. All children, faculty, and staff were safe.

Brookland PD is working closely with the Brookland School District in regard to this incident, a media statement from Detective Dustin Norwood said.
