Two Shot in Two Separate Incidents Tuesday in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – Two people ended up visiting the hospital with gunshot wounds Tuesday evening in Jonesboro and authorities are investigating both cases.

The first such incident happened around 6:13 PM on June 11 at Walmart on Highland Drive in Jonesboro, the incident report said. Police responded to the location for a report of shots fired. Authorities arrived and spoke with several individuals listed in the report, all of whom were described as calm. The primary suspect in the report is listed as a 27-year-old male. After further investigation, authorities noted in the report that they believe the suspect shot himself in the leg. However, the incident is still being investigated.

The second incident was no accident, based on what police learned. It happened around 7 PM at the 2500-block of Johnson Avenue. Officers responded to a shots fired call. Police arrived and collected evidence from the scene, including several spent rounds and shell casings.

Sometime later, a 22-year-old male victim showed up to the hospital with a wound to the lower part of his leg.

After investigating, police believe the incident stemmed from a drug dealing argument. The report indicates officers found five gray bags containing four grams of marijuana each, as well as another bag containing a small amount.

At least five suspects are indicated in the police report, with three of those being under 18-years of age.

As of Wednesday morning, police were still investigating both incidents. No arrests have been reported as of yet.
