A man accused of pointing a gun at a woman and chasing two people during a disturbance in Jonesboro faces a felony aggravated assault charge, according to court documents.
Reco Brown appeared before Special Judge Barbara Halsey on Nov. 4. Halsey found probable cause for the Class D felony, and his bond was set at $75,000 cash or surety.
Jonesboro police responded Nov. 2 to a disturbance in the 500 block of North Culberhouse Street. Before arriving, officers were told the suspect had a gun and was leaving in a black Yukon, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Officers saw the vehicle leaving, conducted a traffic stop and took Brown into custody without incident. A search turned up a loaded Ruger LCP in the center console, with one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine, the affidavit says.
A woman told police she saw Brown arguing with another woman before he entered the Yukon and came back out with a gun. She alleged Brown pointed it at her and chased her. After fleeing, she reported seeing him chase a second person.
The second person told officers he and Brown had a verbal altercation and he saw a gun in Brown’s hand. He said he heard a gunshot, fled and hid until police arrived.
Brown acknowledged having a gun but denied pointing it at anyone or firing it, according to the affidavit. He told officers it was in the vehicle’s center console.
The affidavit says Brown and the first person did not know each other, while Brown and the second person were co-workers.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 16 at 8:30 a.m. in Craighead County Circuit Court.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
