JONESBORO, Ark. — A man accused of kicking a woman in the face and scratching a man during a disturbance on East Johnson Avenue in Jonesboro faces a felony battery charge involving medical personnel, according to court documents.
Jaylin M. Clark appeared before Special Judge Barbara Halsey on Nov. 4. Halsey found probable cause for second-degree battery involving physical injury to medical personnel, a Class D felony, and his bond was set at $20,000 cash or surety.
Jonesboro police were dispatched Nov. 3 to the 2700 block of East Johnson Avenue for a disturbance in progress.
A woman told officers Clark had been asleep in a common area and was awakened to go to his room. She said he became aggressive and combative, and she was kicked in the right side of her face during efforts to get him under control, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Officers noted no visible injuries to the woman.
A man told police he had been asked to help with Clark and assisted in restraining and moving him. During the struggle, Clark allegedly freed one hand, scratched the man’s neck and tore his shirt.
Officers documented abrasions on the man’s upper right chest below his collarbone and a ripped shirt, the affidavit says.
Police then went to Clark’s room and asked him to get up, turn around and place his hands behind his back. He complied and was handcuffed before being taken to the Craighead County Detention Center.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 16 at 8:30 a.m. in Craighead County Circuit Court.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
