JONESBORO, Ark. — A man faces felony drug and firearm allegations after Jonesboro police reported finding bagged marijuana and a handgun in a backpack containing his wallet during an Oct. 12 traffic stop.
Dylan Ray Holt faces allegations of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, a Class Y felony, and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance with purpose to deliver, a Class D felony, according to first-appearance documents.
The probable cause affidavit states that Officer Lowry stopped a vehicle driven by Holt near Aggie Road and Allis Street after observing the driver fail to use a turn signal at two intersections. Lowry also reported that the vehicle’s registration had expired in June.
Both occupants were removed from the vehicle, and K-9 Officer Davies deployed his dog to sniff the vehicle’s exterior. The dog alerted, and officers searched the vehicle, according to the affidavit.
Police reported finding a glass jar containing approximately 3 grams of suspected marijuana and a pipe, both of which the passenger claimed to own.
Officers also found two baggies of suspected marijuana in the center console, weighing approximately 4 grams and 3 grams, the affidavit states.
In a backpack in the back seat, officers reported finding Holt’s wallet, five baggies of marijuana, a Glock 23 handgun and a holster. The affidavit lists the baggies’ approximate weights as 2 grams, 3 grams, 5 grams, 6 grams and 24 grams.
Holt was taken into custody, and officers secured the items, according to the affidavit.
The first-appearance documents also list allegations of expired vehicle registration and failure to use a turn signal.
On Oct. 14, Judge David Boling set Holt’s bond at $25,000 cash or surety. His next court appearance is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Dec. 16 at the Craighead County Courthouse.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
