A-State Theatre to Stage ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ Nov. 13-22

A-State Theatre will present six performances at the Fowler Center in Jonesboro from Nov. 13 to 22. Tickets are $15 to $20, with free tickets for A-State students.

JONESBORO, Ark. — Arkansas State University’s Department of Theatre will open a six-performance run of “Little Shop of Horrors: The Musical” Nov. 13 at the Fowler Center in Jonesboro.

Based on the 1960 film, the musical follows Seymour Krelborn, a struggling florist on Skid Row who discovers an unusual plant that promises fame, fortune and a chance at love. As the plant grows, so does its appetite, drawing Seymour into a dangerous bargain.

Alan Menken wrote the music, and Howard Ashman wrote the book and lyrics. The cult classic blends comedy and horror with a score inspired by doo-wop, Motown and rock ’n’ roll.

Showtimes and Tickets

Performances in the Fowler Center’s Drama Theatre begin at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 13, 14, 20 and 21, and at 2:30 p.m. on Sundays, Nov. 15 and 22. See A-State’s performance listing.

Tickets are $15 to $20. They are available at the A-State Box Office in First National Bank Arena from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, by phone at 870-972-2781 or online.

A-State students can get a free ticket at the box office by showing a student ID.

The university suggests a PG-13 rating and recommends the show for teens and older. Its content advisory lists depictions of domestic abuse, murder, campy violence played for laughs, mild language and a man-eating plant.
