JONESBORO, Ark. — David Veasley faces a Class Y felony charge after drug task force agents alleged he sold about 28 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant during a controlled purchase in Jonesboro.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Jonesboro police received multiple anonymous tips in July alleging Veasley was selling drugs. Agents with the Second Judicial District Drug Task Force then watched locations associated with him and arranged a purchase through an informant.
The affidavit places the alleged transaction between Aug. 2 and Sept. 2 but does not give an exact date. Investigators said the informant made a recorded phone call to arrange the meeting and used task force money for the purchase. Agents reported searching the informant and the vehicle before and after the transaction, finding no other drugs or money.
Investigators alleged Veasley entered and left a North Church Street property before making the exchange. Multiple agents monitored it in person and through audio and video surveillance, according to the affidavit.
A warrant issued Sept. 14 listed charges of delivery of methamphetamine or cocaine involving more than 10 grams but less than 200 grams, a Class Y felony, and use of a communication device, a Class C felony. A separate affidavit says the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force took Veasley into custody Sept. 25.
Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause at Veasley’s Sept. 28 first appearance and set bond at $250,000, secured by qualified sureties. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 23.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
