JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro man faces 44 felony counts after investigators linked him to a Google account authorities say was used to upload videos of child sexual abuse.
Gregory Curtis Daffron, 35, was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 22, on allegations of possession or use of child sexual abuse material. First-appearance paperwork lists 44 counts of the Class B felony.
Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to detain Daffron and set his bond at $250,000 cash or surety. Fowler also barred Daffron from accessing the internet on any device, according to court records.
The investigation began after the Jonesboro Police Department received two cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to affidavits signed by Detective Adam Hampton. Police said in a public statement that the center contacted the department in early September.
Google provided information about an account using the name “Honey Badger,” including an IP address, email address and date of birth, according to the records. Investigators said the account was used to upload 44 videos depicting the sexual abuse of children.
The IP address was associated with Optimum Communications in Jonesboro. Arkansas State Police subpoenaed the provider for subscriber information, which led investigators to a Jonesboro residence where Daffron lived, according to an affidavit.
Investigators determined that Daffron’s date of birth matched the date of birth associated with the Google account, the affidavit states. Police identified him as the account’s owner and obtained an arrest warrant.
Jonesboro police’s Internet Crimes Against Children division and SWAT team, along with the U.S. Marshals Service and FBI, executed a search warrant at Daffron’s residence Sept. 22. Authorities arrested him and seized electronic devices, according to Hampton’s affidavit.
Daffron’s next court appearance is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Oct. 26 in Craighead County Circuit Court in Jonesboro.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
