Employee Accused of Entering Restricted Office, Altering His Personnel File Arrested for Commercial Burglary

Franklin Rashad Harris faces commercial burglary and falsifying business records charges after allegedly replacing an employment test in his personnel file.

JONESBORO, Ark. — An employee accused of entering a restricted office at a Jonesboro business and replacing a required test in his personnel file faces commercial burglary and falsifying business records charges, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Franklin Rashad Harris appeared before Special Judge Barbara Halsey on Nov. 4. His bond was set at $2,500 cash or surety, and the judge ordered him barred from the business on Highland Drive.

The commercial burglary charge is a Class C felony. Falsifying business records is a Class A misdemeanor.

The company’s chief financial officer contacted Jonesboro police Oct. 17 to report an unauthorized entry into a secured corporate office. According to the affidavit, electronic access locks had been temporarily deactivated for an on-site company event when Harris entered a restricted human resources area.

Once inside, Harris allegedly entered the CFO’s private office and used his cellphone to photograph two termination letters left on a desk.

The affidavit alleges Harris searched desk drawers, accessed physical personnel records and located his own employee file. He then removed an employment-mandated qualification test and substituted a different test document, investigators wrote.

Harris initially disclosed his actions during an internal company investigation, according to the affidavit.

During a later interview with law enforcement after being advised of his rights, Harris allegedly admitted entering the restricted human resources area without authorization, photographing the termination letters and replacing his original employment test with an altered version.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 16 at 8:30 a.m. in Craighead County Circuit Court.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
