PARAGOULD, Ark. — Two people face felony drug allegations after police reported finding liquid methamphetamine, pills, scales and packaging materials during a search of a Paragould home, according to arrest affidavits.
Orville Lee Jr. and Amanda Champion each had bond set at $100,000 following the Sept. 14 investigation. Lee’s affidavit lists four felony counts, while Champion’s lists five, including an additional allegation involving text messages police say documented drug transactions.
According to affidavits signed by Paragould police Investigator Hunter De Sesso, the department’s vice unit received information Sept. 14 about possible drug sales at a residence. Investigators determined Champion was on probation and had a search waiver on file, then conducted a probation search of the home.
Police reported finding 16.6 grams of liquid methamphetamine, another 6.9 grams of methamphetamine, 1.7 grams of a counterfeit substance and three alprazolam pills. Investigators also reported finding multiple electronic scales, empty packaging materials and numerous used and unused syringes.
Lee was found lying in a bed next to a glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine, according to his affidavit.
Investigators also conducted a probation search of Champion’s cellphone and found numerous text messages involving drug transactions, her affidavit states.
Both affidavits list the following felony allegations:
* Possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver, involving at least 10 grams but less than 200 grams, a Class A felony.
* Possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class B felony.
* Possession of a counterfeit substance with purpose to deliver, a Class C felony.
* Possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance with purpose to deliver, a Class D felony.
Champion’s affidavit also lists unlawful use of a communication device, a Class C felony.
Judge Curtis Hitt found probable cause Sept. 14 and set a $100,000 surety bond for each defendant, according to the accompanying court orders. Release conditions require both to comply with ankle monitor requirements, possess no weapons and live a law-abiding life.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
