PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man is accused of entering a home and consuming someone else’s prescription medication while sitting on a couch, according to an arrest affidavit.
The affidavit names Robert Owens and lists one count of residential burglary, a Class B felony, and one count of theft of property, a Class A misdemeanor.
Police responded at about 10:52 a.m. Sept. 11 to a trailer park on South Second Avenue after a report of an unwanted person inside a home, according to the affidavit signed by Detective Aaron D. Gamber.
A resident told officers they came out of a room and found Owens, whom they recognized, sitting on the couch consuming prescription medication. Owens left after the resident said police were being called, the affidavit states.
The resident gave police a description of Owens’ clothing and said he lived nearby. Officers arrived within three minutes and located Owens nearby wearing clothing matching that description, according to the affidavit.
Police reported that Owens appeared to be under the influence. He told officers he had been drinking vodka for two weeks and had been knocking on neighbors’ doors seeking a ride to get more vodka, the affidavit states.
Greene County District Judge Curtis Hitt found probable cause for Owens’ arrest in a Sept. 11 order and set bond at $50,000, allowing surety or another form acceptable to the Greene County sheriff.
Release conditions prohibit contact with victims, witnesses or others involved in the case and possession of weapons. The order also requires Owens to remain law-abiding.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
