(WALNUT RIDGE, Ark.) – Downtown Walnut Ridge will be rocking again this Saturday, Sept. 19, with the annual Beatles at the Ridge music festival. The festival, which is free to attend, attracts thousands of visitors every year for a day full of live music, vendors, food, a car show, children’s attractions and more.
Live entertainment will be featured throughout the day, and event organizers say 110 vendors have reserved a spot, including 18 food vendors.
“This year’s Beatles at the Ridge is going to be packed with music and a lot of fun activities,” said Peyton Tillman, who chairs the festival committee. “All of our vendor spaces are sold out, so there’s going to be a lot to see, and the music will be outstanding, as always.”
The Liverpool Legends, a Beatles tribute band from Branson, Mo., will once again headline the festival. The Legends take the Cavenaugh Chevrolet Rock n’ Roll Hwy. Stage at 7 p.m., and several other acts will precede them, performing throughout the day.
ATF Martial Arts will perform demonstrations of their skills at 12 noon.
At 1:30, the Williams Singers from Williams Baptist University will perform, delivering their renditions of gospel, pop, and spirituals. The Singers are the official traveling choir of WBU.
Arkansas native Marybeth Byrd takes the stage at 3 p.m. A Top 8 finalist on NBC’s The Voice and Top 10 finalist on ABC’s American Idol, Byrd blends country, gospel and pop styles with her celebrated voice and original songwriting.
And Memphis Jones with his All Memphis Music Review returns to Beatles at the Ridge at 5 p.m. Jones is a featured act at BB King’s Blues Club on Beale Street, where he performs a history of Memphis music.
In addition, the KASU Roots Stage will feature performances in Beatles Park starting at 2 p.m. Saturday. Among the artists set to perform there are the Jazz Buskers, Silver Wings, Delta Legends and the Spencer Brothers.
The Abbey Road Car Show runs from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, with an expanded range of awards. Peoples’ choice awards to be presented in the categories of:
- Antique: Up to 1959
- Early Classic: 1960 to 1984
- Late Classic: 1985 to 2009
- Modern: 2010 and Newer
- Favorite Truck
The car show will be held on NW 3rd & West Walnut Streets, next to Regions Bank. The entry fee is $20, and vehicles can start lining up at 9:00 am next to Walnut Ridge City Hall on NW 3rd Street.
There is also a children’s area at the festival, which will include bounce houses, face painting and the Morley Family Magic Show.
“Our entire community comes together for Beatles at the Ridge, and we take pride in presenting one of the premier festivals in the state of Arkansas,” said Terrence Ward, executive director of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. “It is an amazing opportunity every year to welcome so many visitors, and it’s a welcome boost to our local economy, as well.”
The festival opens at 10 am, and it runs until the conclusion of the Liverpool Legends’ performance that evening. Beatles at the Ridge takes place in downtown Walnut Ridge and encompasses several city blocks on the north side of Main Street.
