PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould resident faces three felony charges and one misdemeanor after police said a search of his home uncovered suspected methamphetamine and marijuana, drug paraphernalia and cash.
Investigators with the Paragould Police Department’s VICE Unit executed a search warrant Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the residence of Jeremy Johnson, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Police reported finding a plastic bag containing about 15 grams of a white crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine. Investigators also allegedly found about 3.7 grams of a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana, an electronic scale, empty packaging materials and $2,035 in cash.
Johnson was advised of his rights and agreed to speak with investigators, according to the affidavit. Police said Johnson also consented to a search of his cellphone, where investigators reported finding incriminating evidence.
The affidavit alleges Johnson told investigators he would not keep more than an ounce of illegal drugs at a time and would purchase multiple ounces in a week.
Johnson faces possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver, a Class A felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class B felony; unlawful use of a communication device, a Class C felony; and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance with purpose to deliver, a Class A misdemeanor.
District Judge Curtis Hitt found probable cause and set Johnson’s bond at $100,000 surety. If released, Johnson must wear an ankle monitor, refrain from possessing weapons and live a law-abiding life.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
