JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro suspect was arrested after police said a stolen business check was cashed for $910.
Taliyah Coleman, 27, of Jonesboro, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree forgery and misdemeanor theft.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Jonesboro Police Department, officers responded May 5 to a report of stolen business checks. When officers made contact with the alleged victim, they were told business checks had been stolen and fraudulently negotiated without authorization.
During the investigation, police determined that on April 27, Coleman allegedly presented and cashed one of the stolen checks at 1325 S. Caraway Road. The check was in the amount of $910.
The affidavit states surveillance video from the business showed Coleman cashing the check. Police said Coleman provided identification information at the time of the transaction, including her driver’s license number. An officer reviewed the footage and compared it with Coleman’s driver’s license photo before identifying her as the person cashing the check, according to the affidavit.
Coleman’s next court date is June 26. Her bond was set at $35,000 cash or surety by Judge Tommy Fowler.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
