JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect with outstanding warrants and on probation was arrested Feb. 23, 2026, after officers responding to a call about a person slumped over in a vehicle discovered drugs and attempted to take him into custody, according to a police report.
Officer Jeremy Wheelis, along with officers Susan Gray and Jacob Chambers, were dispatched to 2607 Red Wolf Boulevard after a caller reported a male subject slumped over inside a vehicle at the front of a business. The caller told dispatchers they had banged on the vehicle window but received no response.
Wheelis arrived and recognized the subject from a prior encounter a few days earlier when the same individual had been found unconscious inside a vehicle. Officers made contact with the suspect, identified as Christopher Allen Spencer, 34.
A records check confirmed Spencer had a felony warrant for residential burglary and theft of property from Paragould.
According to the affidavit, officers asked Spencer to step out of the vehicle. When Wheelis attempted to place him into custody, Spencer suddenly turned and attempted to flee on foot. Officers pursued him and were able to take him to the ground and place him into custody.
During a search incident to arrest, officers located a small black case in Spencer’s pocket containing two syringes, a spoon with drug residue, a plastic bag containing pills, and a small bag of suspected methamphetamine weighing about 0.5 grams.
The pills were later identified as three Xanax pills, five Buprenorphine Hydrochloride and Naloxone Hydrochloride pills, and one Buprenorphine and Naloxone sublingual film.
Spencer was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center and held pending a probable cause hearing.
According to court records, Spencer was arrested for possession of methamphetamine or cocaine with purpose to deliver less than two grams and possession of a Schedule III substance with purpose to deliver, both Class C felonies. He was also arrested for possession of a Schedule IV or V substance with purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia, both Class D felonies, along with resisting arrest and fleeing.
Judge Tommy Fowler set bail at $75,000. The judge noted Spencer has warrants out of Oklahoma and Greene County and is currently on probation.
Spencer’s next court date is scheduled for March 20.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
