Arkansas Man Accused of Choking, Threatening Woman During Domestic Dispute

JONESBORO, Ark. — A 24-year-old Arkansas man has been arrested after police say he choked and threatened to kill a woman during a domestic disturbance.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Jonesboro police responded Sept. 21 to Toni Ann Drive, where a woman reported that her boyfriend, Ross Lavell Ware, became angry while she was packing to move out of the residence.

The woman told officers Ware chased her around the house, caught up to her, and placed her head under his arm while wrapping his arm around her neck and chest. She said Ware then threw her to the ground, causing abrasions to her legs, and threatened to kill her. The victim eventually escaped and sought help from nearby neighbors.

Officers found Ware outside the residence playing basketball and took him into custody without incident.

Ware, 24, faces charges of first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony, and third-degree domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor. Judge David Boling set his bail at $25,000 cash or surety. His next court date is Oct. 30.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
